The Rat is Dead...

Just as I was cutting of Mckenzie's disgusting Rats Tail which was about 10 cm long, the rat trap went off and the rat is no longer! yeah.

Something is living in the roof!!!!

Last night it was loud as... sounded like it was lifting a cord and then dropping it again onto wood. I have visions of a rat up there (as they have been before) munching on the power cord then spitting it out. It went on for ages, woke me up and freaked me out. thank goodness Cam was here - although offered no help or suggestions other than its in the ceiling it can't get you!

So tonight the rat trip is out... As it cannot continue. I wanted to turn on the lights and electrocute the thing. Hope it wasn't a snake... that would completely freak me. Its bad enough with spiders and lizards which are everywhere.

Yuck Yuck Yuck.

OMG

He's ten.  It seems like yesterday but it was 10 years ago I went into labour.

Still haven't lost the baby fat but give me time!

Mc is celebrating his birthday with meringues and dairy whip at school tomorrow... so I am busy cooking.

Sunday he is taking some friends to Lazer Skirmish in the bush - war game type thing.  I will just be sitting in my chair guarding the drinks and food.  I have a hens night Saturday so will need to exercise some control else it will all turn to custard.  Those who know me will know I pleasant I am with a hangover!!!

Cam has been in Australia this week which is nice... Mc has had nightmares for the last three nights so none of us has slept very well.  Fingers crossed for tonight.

Ok time to check the oven.  Ciao.

The Rain Has Gone

So the last two days have been pouring and with it came a drop in temperature - down to the low mid 20's.  But today things are back to normal - its meant to be a high of 33.  The pool is very cool though... the boys jumped in this morning and said "its freezing my nuts off".  I will wait until it warms up a bit.

Quiet day today - the boys have been playing SingStar - they are not stars!  Very droney.

Critter wise there was this really weird thing crawling along the bathroom floor this morning... might have been some kind of slug but when the bug boy came to take it away he said that it was kind of hard when he turned it over.  Anyway he got flushed.  It was pretty big - like as long as a finger.  Gross.  Plus there were ants in the pantry.  And moths are eating my favourite top.

First post

So, I thought I really should put pen to paper and document a bit of what is happening in the Greening household.  This blog won't be about babies as my baby is just turning 10 - he's a big boy now!

Today were were meant to travel to North Stradbroke Island http://www.stradbroketourism.com/stradbroke.htm for McKenzie's first Nipper Carnival.  For the uninitiated Nippers is run by the Surf Life Saving Club and teaches them water skills etc - (and yes they wear speedos!).  However Brisbane has been a bit wet the last couple of days and it was cancelled.  Straddie is lovely on a great day and a bit dismal on a wet day.  I was secretly relieved when it was cancelled as we were going to be on a ferry to the Island which left at 6.30 am!  The last couple of weeks there (we go most Saturday's for Nippers) have been fabulous... the water has been in the late 20's, its clear and the swimming is awesome.  The beach is white and squeeky - a beautiful place a stones through away.  Camping there is lovely too.  We have camped at Cylinder Beach, with sites just beyond the dunes.

So instead we have been painting our bedroom - the pink was finally too much to bear - now its white.  Yeah.
